Typical Work Flow Layout

Work Flow Layout
Seen above is a typical work flow layout for a highly automated industrial laundry. Systems may be custom designed and have more or less automation, according to the customer's needs. Please let us know your requirements.

Gardner Unclassified Soil Storage and Sorting System
Soiled articles arriving at the facility are unloaded onto this system. Personnel on the raised platform sort items into sling-lined Gardner Weigh Carts on the opposite side of the sorting conveyor which can be indexed at various speeds.

Gardner Classified Soil Linen Monorail System
The carts are moved to the three stage lift where an operator pushed a button to select the proper rail for storage of soiled articles. The lift moves the sling to the high position and the sling rolls by gravity to the pre-selected storage rail overhead.

Gardner Clean Linen Monorail System
The washers are unloaded into sling-lined carts. At the nearby three-stage lift the operator pushes a button to select the rail and sends the sling by gravity to storage overhead. There are four rail classifications for the ironers, dryers, and garment finisher. The dryer operator punches a button to release slings for loading the dryers. Dryers automatically unload at the end of the drying cycle onto the Gardner Dryer Discharge Conveyor. These articles are then loaded into slings and are sent from a three-stage lift to storage in the Gardner Dryer Monorail System. Folding department operators select slings which move by gravity to the dry fold staging rail which increases storage capacity, labor efficiency, and work flow flexibility.

An operator manually rolls a sling from the rail to the Gardner Folding Station, unloads it on the station, and returns the empty sling to storage by means of gravity.

Garments in slings may be released from storage to be discharged into a cart for staging prior to being hangered. Articles finished in the tunnel finisher travel along a take-away conveyor to a slick rail for storage in the textile distribution area.

At the same control station that feeds the dryers, the ironer operators call for large piece flatwork slings which are discharged onto Gardner Flatwork Conveyors with electronic controls which advance the flatwork automatically.

Gardner Clean Linen Transfer Conveyor System
Finished large piece flatwork is automatically stacked and conveyed onto this system. Small piece folded flatwork is stacked on the conveyor at each Gardner Folding Station.

Gardner Flow Rack
Stacks automatically move to the Gardner Flow Rack in the distribution area and are manually placed on trays in appropriate lanes. They move by gravity into storage. Finally, delivery carts are made up with processed articles and loaded onto trucks.
